Yemeni Shafut

This dish is considered one of the most famous dishes in Yemen. There are also Shafut Al-San’ani and Saudi as it is called. Lahouh bread is usually used in its preparation, and it is spread on the plate over a group of ingredients in a special way that we present to you in details

Ingredients:

2 cups of flour

A cup of brown flour

2 tablespoons of salt

2 tablespoons yeast

 3 and a half cups of water

For the manufacture of chaff:

2 cups of yogurt

1/2 cup finely chopped coriander

tablespoon dry mint

Quarter teaspoon of salt

Method:

  1. Mix all the above ingredients after sifting them.
  • The dough should be somewhat liquid (almost like Qatayef dough before baking it).
  • Cover with a towel and leave in a warm place until the dough ferments. Leave it for the second day.
  • In a frying pan over medium heat, grease it with a little oil until it gets a little hot.
  • Using the coffee pot, pour a little of the mixture into the pan until a lump forms.
  • Leave it for 3 minutes, flip it on the other side, and leave it for another three minutes.
  • Both sides of the disc should be browned and served.
  • Note that the kneading bowl while taking a quantity of dough for baking should remain closed with a towel.
